At Vance Press, we are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of scholarly publishing. Our editorial process is designed to ensure the integrity, quality, and timeliness of the research we publish, while providing a transparent and efficient experience for authors, reviewers, and editors.

Editorial Process

Vance Press Editor Process

1. Submission

Authors can submit their manuscripts through our user-friendly online submission system. Upon submission, authors are required to provide all necessary files, including the manuscript text, figures, tables, and supplementary materials. Authors are also asked to include any relevant metadata and a cover letter outlining the significance of their work.

2. Initial Evaluation

Once a manuscript is submitted, it undergoes an initial evaluation by the journal’s editorial team. This evaluation assesses the manuscript's alignment with the journal's scope, its adherence to submission guidelines, and its overall quality. Manuscripts that do not meet the basic criteria may be returned to the authors with feedback or rejected at this stage.

3. Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial evaluation are then sent for peer review. Vance Press follows a rigorous double-blind or single-blind peer review process, depending on the journal's policy. We select expert reviewers from our extensive network of over 600 academic professionals across 25 countries, ensuring that each manuscript is evaluated by reviewers with the relevant expertise.

Reviewers assess the manuscript’s originality, significance, methodological rigor, clarity, and contribution to the field. They provide detailed feedback and make recommendations to the editors regarding the manuscript’s suitability for publication.

4. Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewers’ comments and recommendations, the handling editor makes an editorial decision. The decision can be one of the following: accept, accept with minor revisions, revise and resubmit, or reject. Authors receive a decision letter that includes the reviewers’ feedback and any necessary revisions.

5. Revisions

If revisions are required, authors are given the opportunity to address the reviewers’ comments and improve their manuscript. The revised manuscript is then resubmitted through the online system. Depending on the nature of the revisions, the manuscript may be sent back to the original reviewers or assessed by the handling editor before a final decision is made.

6. Acceptance

Once a manuscript is accepted, it moves into the production phase. Authors receive an acceptance letter, and the manuscript is prepared for publication. This includes typesetting, proofreading, and formatting to ensure that the final published version meets the journal’s standards.

7. Production and Proofreading

During production, the manuscript is professionally typeset and formatted. Authors are sent proofs of their article for review and are asked to check for any errors or necessary corrections. This stage ensures that the final published article is accurate and polished.

8. Publication

After the final proofs are approved, the manuscript is published online. Vance Press ensures that all accepted articles are published as swiftly as possible, with most articles being made available within 7-10 days after acceptance. The published article is fully Open Access and distributed under a Creative Commons License, ensuring free and unrestricted access for all readers.

9. Post-Publication

Following publication, the article is indexed in relevant databases and promoted through various channels to enhance its visibility and impact. Authors are encouraged to engage in post-publication discussions and share their work with the broader academic community.

10. Ethical Oversight

Throughout the editorial process, Vance Press is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards. We adhere to the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing and follow the COPE Core Practices to handle any ethical issues, including plagiarism, conflicts of interest, and data falsification.
